It's official!! School is out for the summer!! I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am about that but if you have been following my posts, I am sure you can imagine it for yourself. We have been blessed with beautiful sunny days in the last month or so. I start my summer classes on Monday and then summer school starts in the middle of June, though I have contacted unemployment to see if I am eligible for that during the summer months since I would actually make more on unemployment instead of the pitiful six hour week I would be working in summer school. I can only hope that they decide to offer me more than that. I have registered for a flagger certification course in hopes that I can find work doing that, if not this summer than definitely next summer. Davis Bacon is $45 an hour this year and it would be a good money maker and way to start saving for the time I am student teaching and therefore unable to work for at least a semester. I received my initial teaching certification in the mail today and have begun the final application process, still in hopes of being in my own classroom next year. There was some talk this week of combining the ED program into a K-5 classroom and only having one teacher which would mean that the teacher we had this year would have to find employment at another school. Heard on the last day that this would not be the case and nothing would be changing next year. I continue to vigorously look for openings within the district at other schools. Still don't think I can successfully grin and bear it through another school year but I refuse to think about it now. For now I am going to relish the sunny days, focus on my summer classes, and catch up on some recreational reading and any home projects we start and accomplish during the three weeks that Jamie is home. I am so excited to have him home for three weeks and to have no big commitments during that time so we will be able to have weeks of uninterrupted time together. It is much needed.
