Another beautiful day in the neighborhood

Started my first summer class and it sounds like it will be an interesting class. Advanced Multicultural Education.....fun. I start the remaining two in July (Music in the K8 Curriculum and Inclusive Classrooms for All Children). So far my summer break has been great. The weather has been beautiful, high 60's and sunny. That may sound cold in most places but here if its in the 60's and 70's we are putting our shorts and sunscreen on because those temperatures feel much warmer here than they do other places. I have enjoyed spending every day outside and plan on doing that as often as possible. Going to enjoy the sun and soak up as much vitamin D as possible before winter comes again. Don't even want to think about that. Jamie comes home today for three weeks!!! That means daily yard work (clearing the front area so i can start my lawn next year, building garden boxes and possibly transplanting stuff, clearing logs from the back, etc) Words cannot express how much I am looking forward to having him home!! Was excited to hear this week that I will be working a full summer school shift instead of just the afternoons which was a big weight off. It was looking pretty rough financially if I couldn't pick up anything else. Now that weight has been lifted. Summer school starts mid-June for six weeks, my classes end mid August and school starts mid-late August. I am taking a flagger certification course this summer so that hopefully next summer I can get work doing that and save money for Fall 2011 when I will be students teaching and therefore unable to work for at least a semester. It has been confirmed that I will not be returning to Big Lake for the school year because class sizes are so small they have downsized their sped staff to one full time aid in each room. Needless to say I am not at all broken hearted about this. I will miss most of the staff but am happy to not be returning to the classroom and having opportunities elsewhere. I am just waiting to receive my placement options from the district and have been given the lead on a position at a new school that was essentially created with me in mind. Definitely takes some of the guess work out of finding work for the fall. I continue to work on my teaching application, so who knows where I will be next year but I have been presented with a number of options. God definitely answers prayers in unexpected ways and I am hoping this trend continues through the summer. For those wondering, due to class schedules I might not be coming down to CA this summer but am looking forward to any visitors that would like to make their way up this year. Still hunting for my camera charger so that I can get pictures taken of our house projects throughout the summer
