The holidays have come and gone and we have continued to settle into our house. The painting is done and most things are put away for now. The next project will probably be replacing the living room/hall way carpet and possibly the kitchen flooring with bamboo and slowly deciding on a "look" for our house so we can start to buy new furniture. Projects are always coming up and it will be interesting to see how this year progresses, especially as we move into the summer months and the snow goes away and daylight hours increase. Jamie has a lot of big ideas and plans and I am just trying to wrap my head around them at this point. We are currently planning our housewarming party for the end of this month which might also double as a birthday party for me. Even though I have yet to get pictures up, I am still hoping to do so soon. Still working on finding my camera chargers with little luck.
Jamie continues his work on the slope and has enjoyed it so far. He is confident that he will be able to advance quickly and make the most of his time up there. It is obvious how much he enjoys shift work and I enjoy having him home for two weeks at a time instead of one. He seems to enjoy having more time to complete projects and work here and there when he is needed.
I am in my second semester of school and have started two practicums in science and social studies. I have enjoyed it so far and have chosen to do my social studies practicum at the middle school and my science one with fourth graders at my school. It has been nice to be able to work around my schedule so I can get some school work done and still get paid and my teacher doesn't really seem to care if I am gone from the classroom or not. It has been an interesting experience but I have enjoyed it and it is becoming more and more obvious to me that teaching is something I am good at and will continue to be successful at. I continue to look for other employment within the school district. I know I don't want to be back in my current classroom for next school year if I can help it and my goal is to have my own classroom. During spring break I plan on completing all the elements needed for my temporary certification so I can get everything sent to Juneau for them to go through and issue me the certification. Doesn't mean I will necessarily get a teaching job if I apply for one but hopefully it will get my foot a little further in the door.
We, or more specifically I, have decided that after almost four years of conception attempts I would really like to know what is going on and have begun the referral paperwork to see a specialist. Apparently there are only two places in the state that do this sort of thing. All I would like is an answer and some sort of closure or direction at this point and since we have insurance again, this is as good a time as any I guess. So for any of you who are the praying sort, this would be a need to keep in your prayers. I am hoping that it is something that can be corrected as naturally as possible but if not, a decision will be made as that bridge arises.
Until then I am counting down the days until spring break and another week away from the classroom, looking forward to parties at the end of the month and the completion of more home projects and being able to host bunco in May with more space. Am registering for summer classes (all two of them!!) at the end of this month and will be more than halfway through completing the academic portion of my program. I love the feeling of movement and accomplishment.
