Happy Father's Day

Yes I know it's early but I have forgotten to send a card to my dad this year so I have substituted here with a tribute not only to my dad but to all dads or soon to be dads (as taken from www.fathers.net because I don't claim to be a writer of any sort)

    Walk a Little Slower Daddy

    "Walk a Little slower, Daddy." said a little child so small.
    I'm following in your footsteps and I don't want to fall.

    Sometimes your steps are very fast, sometimes they're hard to see;
    So walk a little slower Daddy, for you are leading me.

    Someday when I'm all grown up, You're what I want to be.
    Then I will have a little child who'll want to follow me.

    And I would want to lead just right, and know that I was true;
    So, walk a little slower, Daddy, for I must follow you!!

I am amazed at how quickly this month has already started to fly by. This week will be our last week of the June session of summer school, then we have a week off and the July session starts. Our third anniversary falls during the week that I have off from work and although we have yet to decide if we will be going anywhere, I am really hoping to get in some camping or another trip up to the Chena Hot Springs in Fairbanks like we did last year. I have enjoyed working with the preschoolers although some of them prove more challenging than others and we have all agreed that our afternoon group is the easier of the two groups for many reasons. The first being that there are fewer of them and we can actually do activities more than manage behaviors. Second, all of the kids in our afternoon session are potty trained whereas most of our morning kids are still in diapers. Third, all of the morning kids are completely verbal (though with speech impairments) whereas a majority of our morning kids are not and that sometimes makes figuring out what they need a little more difficult. Still, though I have yet to ever decide if teaching pre-k sped would ever be my preferred placement, it has been a great learning experience and has continued to provide me with the crucial experiences I need as I continue my journey in special ed. I got my Praxis results back, which I passed with flying colors, everything above average and am now just continuing to wait on my acceptance into UAS. I won't know until they receive my Praxis results and my transcripts but I also am not worried about getting in because I know I am more than qualified. I anticipate starting classes by August, about the same time work starts again.
     We are enjoying great summer weather, with clouds and light rain in the evenings/mornings often clearing up by afternoon. Still waiting for it to completely break and return to 70 + degree days again but it is still better than last year so I can't complain. Jamie and I have started going to karate classes twice a week. Actually we went to our first class last Tuesday and will go again this Thursday (tuesday we got free tickets to a baseball game for our local AAA team so we will go check that out and hopefully I will have some pics to post) and probably a few more times until we decide for sure if we will continue. It is Tuesdays and Thursdays and is something we can enjoy together. Besides that, it is a useful skill to learn and I think we will continue going and learning. Jamie's uncle and cousins also go and its nice to do things we enjoy together. The job search has continued with little success but he has remained persistent and in apparent good spirits, keeping himself busy with other projects around the house and working odd jobs for others. I will rejoice the day that he finds steady work again though. I know it will take a huge weight off of his shoulders.
  On a different note I would recommend the movies UP, Taking of Pelham 123, and The Proposal to anyone who has not seen them yet. They were all well made and worth seeing in the theatres. It has been a long time since we have seen movies together in the theatre so having the opportunity to see these three recently has been a real treat. I have been participating in the summer reading program at the library and have almost forgotten how much I love going to the library. Though I don't have any as of yet, I will try to post book reviews if I come across materials I feel my readers might enjoy.
