book review

Its been a long time since I have sat and took a day to read a book from beginning to end. I had this opportunity yesterday and thought it was definitely worth sharing. The book was Illuminati by Larry Burkett and I strongly recommend it. It is Christian fiction and explores what could happen if and when this age-old secret society controls the government and all its factions that will plummet us back into the days of persecution as seen in the Second World War. It plays on the possibilities of a police state and government controlled world, the inability of those without "the mark" to buy and sell (as noted in the book of Revelation), religious persecution, etc. It was riveting and eye opening as to what our world is coming to. Regardless of the fact that this is technically a fictional novel, there are parts of this that are rapidly coming to fruition. I have never been one for political hype but I have always believed that history will repeat itself often more violently than before, due to the new technologies and other advancements our society has made. This is fictional proof of that we should not be complacent. Does this mean the end is near? Maybe and maybe not, thats not for us to know. It reinforces, at least to me, that we need to start preparing ourselves for what could happen and not fall into a life of complacency. The situations we are in will get worse before they get better and we need to protect ourselves, our rights, our freedoms, and liberties before they get taken away. Keep in mind this is just my opinion but it was a truly riveting read no matter what your beliefs or convictions might be
