The word of the Lord came to me: "Son of man, you are living among a rebellious people. They have eyes to see but do not see and ears to hear but do not hear, for they are a rebellious people." Ezekiel 12:1-2
......Because if so that is really sad. I may come off as the eternal pessimist at this point and although I am willing to overlook that right now, I am unwilling to budge on my current stance until shown otherwise. Those who know me also know that as a general rule I avoid any political talk of any kind for two reasons. Mainly it is because I don't follow along enough to be in the know but also because I tend to sometimes have views or ideas that some don't agree with and, wishing to often avoid conflict, I tend to keep my mouth shut on these issues. Though I don't intend to ever turn this into a political forum, I am having difficulties not doing so this morning. Even though I know I cannot change the decisions that have been made, they don't sit well with me at this point and I am fairly certain that from this point on I will be making a more conscious effort to stay in the loop and informed as to what is going on in the world. Yes I agree that maybe electing a black man as president is a historical event, HOWEVER, not once in the two years that this has been going on have I ever heard someone say they were voting for him because they appreciated and agreed with the issues and reforms that were a part of his platform. Most people only seemed to be voting for him simply because he was black. Have we gotten to a point that we no longer care about actual politics and we are going to continue to let race completely trump all else? Did no on pay attention to the communism-like ideas that were continually brought up and society ensured would take place if he were to be elected (socialized medicine, "sharing the wealth", etc.) Were we willing to overlook the fact that this is a man that is not honest with his people as he could never eloquently answer the questions that were given to him in anything more than clouded and vague responses? Or, as was posed to me this morning, were we too afraid of what we might hear to even ask those tough questions? I already know that we are a society that refuses to learn from past history and I am wondering if this will be another example of that. I am hoping that those who chose to vote in this matter made highly educated and researched decisions and didn't all let emotion get in the way of that. I also know that there have been too many signs over the last few years pointing to what may equate to the end times and that the election of a vague leader who can still manage to captivate and influence large groups of people is just another of many signs. I do not intend either to turn this into a religious forum because I am sure that there are many out there who do not share my belief. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next four years. All I can hope is that everyone is paying attention and keeping their eyes open, and that everyone I care about is truly right with God, praying for guidance and understanding and to be used as a teacher to those that may begin to question not only what is happening around them but also their faith through these potentially turbulent four years
